Persistent rainfall and potential flooding have been predicted in Preston this weekend.

Storm Callum continued its path of destruction today causing travel misery and flooding as the United Kingdom continued to be battered by torrential downpours the warmest October day in seven years.

Friday's weather could impact travel plans during the morning commute, with Met office warning "road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected, with longer journey times and cancellations possible".

On Saturday, areas over high ground could see a further 50 to 80mm of rain.

He also urged extra care along the Pembrokeshire coastline.

A series of weather warnings stretching from the north-west coast of Scotland to Land's End, including Northern Ireland are in place, while a number of flood warnings and alerts are in force across south-west England and south Wales.

The A5114 Glanhwfa Road at Llangefni, A4215 at Defynnog in Powys and A4059 in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taff, were also shut on Friday.

NRW has also advised people to take extra care will driving, to avoid walking or driving through any flood water, and to avoid fast flowing rivers and streams.

It's likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by large waves and rough seas as high tides are near their peak.

There is one flood alert for the whole of the Scottish Borders, particularly the South and West and this could include properties but again is mainly focused on surface water.

If flooding does occur there is a chance that trains or bus services could be cancelled.
