Massive wind-fueled fire threatens NorCal town of Paradise

Neighbourhoods, schools and hospitals have been evacuated while some residents in the town of Paradise were trapped by the flames, officials say.

"Every engine that we could put on the fire is on the fire right now, and more are coming", he said.

An evacuation warning was issued for parts of Chico Thursday night as the Camp Fire blazed toward the city of 90,000 people.

The Adventist Health Feather River Hospital in Paradise evacuated all its patients and staff, given its close proximity to the fire, and transported them safely to hospitals in neighboring towns, said Jill Kinney, an Adventist Health spokeswoman.

More than 40 patients were evacuated to other facilities.

Camp Fire in Butte County Red circles on this live-updating map are actively burning areas, as detected by satellite.

"It's very chaotic. It's a very bad fire", Officer Ryan Lambert of the California Highway Patrol said of the evacuation.
