North Korea subject of talks between Sth Korean President and PM Jacinda Ardern in Auckland

"As such, he asked me to tell Chairman Kim that he wants to implement the rest of their agreement together and he will fulfil Chairman Kim's wishes".

The statement said Mr Xi and Mr Trump "agreed that great progress has been made with respect to North Korea".

Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon urged North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Monday to take concrete steps toward complete denuclearisation and gain the trust of the global community if he wants sanctions lifted.

Moon said there still is a possibility Kim's visit could take place before the end of the year.

Asked if the meeting would take place in the U.S., Trump said that it may happen at "some point", although diplomats are now looking at three other locations for the next summit.

Moon has also facilitated a series of high-level talks between the U.S. and North Korea, including a summit between Trump and Kim in June. After their third meeting in North Korea's capital, Pyongyang, in September, Moon said Kim agreed to make a reciprocal visit to Seoul in 2018.

In a speech to the leaders on the last day of the G20, President Moon shared his administration's ambitious goal of cutting the country's reliance on coal and nuclear power and increasing the proportion of electricity it gets from renewable sources, ... something he's promised to raise to 20 percent by the year 2030.

Moon's programme in Auckland includes a ceremony of welcome and a state lunch hosted by Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy at Government House, a wreath laying ceremony and tour of Auckland War Memorial Museum, and an engagement with the Korean community in Auckland.

North Korea had entered into agreements with regional powers in 1994 and in 2005 to dismantle its nuclear program in return for economic benefits and diplomatic rewards, but those deals broke down after Pyongyang clandestinely continued to pursue building weapons of mass destruction.

North and South Korea have begun to remove landmines and destroy military bunkers along parts of their common border amid efforts to improve long-strained ties.

Trump said on Saturday that he hoped to organise a second summit with Kim in early 2019.

Ban said he hopes their second summit will occur at a time when the worldwide community feels confident about North Korea's commitment to denuclearisation. He said there were three sites under consideration, but declined to name them.
