Oscars ask Kevin Hart to apologize for homophobic tweets, comedian refuses

Kevin Hart Refuses To Apologize For Old Homophobic Tweets!

Kevin Hart has landed in hot water after deleting old anti-gay tweets from his Twitter after being announced as the host of this year's Oscars.

In the tweets, Hart said he did "not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many fantastic, talented artists". "I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past".

"The same energy that went into finding those old tweets could be the same energy put into finding the response to the questions that have been asked years after years after years", Hart said in his latest video.

Old, homophobic tweets by Kevin Hart (above) have drawn scrutiny.

The decision came just hours after he posted a defiant video on Instagram in which he refused to apologize.

Hart has since deleted some of the anti-gay tweets, mostly dated from 2009-11.

"Kevin Hart, apologize for your tweets of old, or we're going to have to move on", Hart relayed about the call in the Instagram post. "The reason why I've passed is that I've addressed it several times".

"I chose to pass on the apology", Hart said. I've said where the rights and wrongs were.

She added, "The global community can not keep turning a blind eye every time Iran blatantly ignores Security Council resolutions". The nuclear deal provides for a lifting of sanctions against Iran in return for curbs on its nuclear activities.

Rodriguez thinks Hart should still host the Oscars. That's not the first time this has come up.

"If u want to search my history or past and anger yourselves with what u find that is fine with me", he writes. "If you choose to not believe me then that's on you.Have a lovely day".

In an earlier Instagram post today, Hart addressed the controversy and said, "I'm nearly 40 years old and I'm in love with the man that I am becoming".

The comedian has since deleted the tweets, but that wasn't before screen captures began circulating online. Next time he has something rude and blatantly homophobic to say, maybe he should keep it off the internet, where - as we're all now well aware - things you've said really do last forever. If you don't believe that people change, grow, evolve as they get older, I don't know what to tell you.

"I swear man, our world is becoming beyond insane", begins Hart in his response.

It's unclear what will happen with Hart's hosting gig.

Rich Ferraro, Chief Communications Officer for GLAAD, has told The Blast, "GLAAD reached out to ABC, The Academy and Kevin Hart's management to discuss his rhetoric and record as well as opportunities for positive LGBTQ inclusion on the Oscars stage".
