Super blood wolf moon lunar eclipse when to see it in January 2019
The Quadrantid shower lasts for weeks, but it has a very narrow peak of a few hours with maximum activity. During its peak in early January, anywhere from 60 to as many as 200 Quadrantid meteors can be seen per hour in ideal conditions.
We're not even a week into 2019 and already a celestial show is in our midst.
With its "bright fireball meteors" appearing at up to 200 an hour, the Quadrantids meteor shower is considered one of the best ones of the year, said the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) on its website.
Those who live in the Northern Hemisphere will have the best chance of observation, and according to Time and Date, visibility for South Florida should be "excellent".
Trump blames Democrats for kids' deaths
The immigration court system has lengthy backlogs, and migrants are often released into the country to wait for their hearings. The impasse over Trump's border wall resulted in a partial government shutdown that entered its ninth day on Sunday.
The Quadrantid meteor showers are known for being slow-moving and colorful, including green, yellow, pink and light blue.
EarthSky, at https://earthsky.org/, says meteors will come from the northern sky with the radiant point making a right angle with the Big Dipper and the star Arcturus.
"The name Quadrantids comes from the constellation Quadrans Muralis (Mural Quadrant), created by the French astronomer Jerome Lalande in 1795", wrote Bruce McClure on EarthSky. This particular asteroid is 2003 EH1, which takes 5.52 years to orbit the sun once.
Stargazers in urban areas may have more luck spotting meteors if they travel to a place with a wide view of the sky and less light pollution, NASA explains. The meteors will be higher in the sky and more visible from Europe. "In less than 30 minutes in the dark, your eyes will adapt and you will begin to see meteors".
