It looks like 2019 will be filled with more of the same as the company's new Vegas billboard tells visitors, "What happens on your iPhone stays on your iPhone".

The message to its rivals reads, "What happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone". LG will get us started on Monday morning at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET with its live streamed press conference at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, where the company is expected to show off a wide variety of smart devices, including TVs.

In brief: While Apple doesn't officially appear at CES, the company has made sure it's a topic of conversation by taking out a giant ad that emphases Cupertino's focus on privacy.

The ad's placement takes on extra irony when you notice that Google's CES presence is even bigger than it was previous year - the company once again wrapped the Las Vegas monorail with "Hey Google" ads and once again it is building a huge playhouse in the convention center parking lot.

Large numbers of federal contractors are also losing pay in what is already one of the longest shutdowns in USA history. A day earlier, the president had tweeted that he didn't care that "most of the workers not getting paid are Democrats".

Below its tongue-in-cheek slogan, Apple promoted a link to apple.com/privacy, where the company further shows off about the security of its products.

Google, which operates Android, exposed the private details of 52 million users of its flop social media site Google+ in November, while last month Amazon sent 1,700 Alexa voice recordings to the wrong user following a GDPR data request.

CES is scheduled to begin on Tuesday. This illustration picture taken on April 29, 2018, shows the logo of Apple displayed on a screen and reflected on a tablet in Paris.
