Radar images this morning show the storm heading head

The National Weather Service has signaled that a Winter Storm Warning will be in effect. If the storm shifts slightly and it remains 100% snow over Richmond, some totals in excess of 8 inches will be possible. Although, flurries remain, roads are dry and no accumulation expected.

Look for areas of rain across central and eastern Kansas and an expanding swath of snow developing for the west throughout the day Friday.

The storm will move into the Kansas City area Friday, starting out as rain and drizzle that will transition to a wintry mix Friday afternoon.

Snowfall rates may slow down during the day Saturday but the snow will continue into Sunday morning. The more snow pack that remains, the colder it will stay.

Traveling to Kansas City for the Colts game? Temperatures have dropped to around 20° this morning with wind chills in the teens.

Highs Friday are expected to be in the mid to upper 30s before falling below freezing. The snow will become widespread over Missouri and IL overnight.

Meteorologists predict periods of light snow late Saturday and again Sunday across Maryland, with at most a few inches of total accumulation. "While an additional 1" maybe 2" is possible we're still going to be dealing with the bulk of the snow from this storm system occurring before sunrise. Slick spots are a possibility on roads traveling back from the Colts game, but the weather should be much quieter for the drive home.
