Along with the Chinese national, whose name has been reported as Weijinga W., the Polish counterintelligence service, the Internal Security Agency (ABW), arrested Polish national Piotr D., the ABW's own former employee, Polish broadcaster TVP reports.

Poland has arrested a Chinese businessman working for the Huawei technology company on suspicion of espionage, authorities in Warsaw said today.

On Friday, Poland arrested a Chinese employee of Huawei and a former Polish security official on spying allegations - a move that could fuel Western security concerns about the telecom equipment maker.

China's foreign ministry reportedly said it was "greatly concerned" by the arrest, while Huawei said it was aware of the situation.

Huawei sacked its employee, acknowledging "the incident" had brought the company into disrepute.

Wang worked as a sales director of Huawei for just over a year; he had previously been one of the firm's public relations directors.

Poland's cyber-security chief, Karol Okonski, told RMF Radio that ideally the European Union and North Atlantic Treaty Organisation would be "as consistent as possible" on Huawei. The arrest deals a brutal blow to the Chinese company.

His case is the latest setback for Huawei.

In a separate memo Friday to Huawei Canada, Mr. Bradley himself said his departure was "not a sudden decision but rather an understanding over the past year-and-a-half that at some point, I would be moving on from a formal role with the company". She is suspected of committing fraud in order to bypass U.S. sanctions against Iran.

"Huawei has always abided by applicable laws and regulations of the country where it is located. and requires all employees to abide by the country's laws and regulations", it said.

China arrested two Canadian citizens nearly immediately after Meng's arrest-Michael Spavor and Michael Kovrig, who are accused of endangering China's national security.

Ms Meng, who is the daughter of Huawei's founder Ren Zhengfei, was released on bail. An arrest of a Huawei executive in Poland for espionage might corroborate those concerns.

Huawei has been iced out of bidding on massive contracts for American, British, and Australian communications infrastructure like upcoming 5G networks. But the country's IT watchdog says it had seen no evidence Huawei could use its equipment to spy for Beijing. Huawei has repeatedly dismissed claims that it is a Beijing tool, with company officials noting that it is an independent entity and has never been implicated in any spy rings - until now. State-controlled telecoms firm Telenor signed a partnership with Huawei in 2009, that gave the Chinese company a foundation to expand further on the continent.
