Jeremy Hunt Warns 'Brexit Paralysis' Could Lead To Remain Or No

Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt is delighted by the release of Matthew Hedges but wants Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe reunited with her family

Mr Grayling's intervention comes after his Conservative colleagues warned about the possibility of the United Kingdom leaving the European Union with no deal.

"Brexit paralysis potentially leading to no Brexit is something I think would be incredibly damaging for the long-term future of this country".

"I'm in a leave constituency, but I would do what's right".

Hunt warned: "If we were, as a political class, not to deliver Brexit, that would be a fundamental breach of trust between the people and the politicians".

In what she described as the "biggest and most important decision that any MP of our generation will be asked to make", the Prime Minister said it was time for politicians to "deliver" for the people.

This could end centuries of "moderate" politics in the United Kingdom, he said, as he urged his colleagues to back Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit deal.

He explained it was not possible for the minority Tory administration to control what happened in Parliament, noting how John Bercow, the Speaker, had shown that he was "willing to frustrate the Government at every opportunity".

She used a Canadian tourist's phone to send a message , a video of which was posted to Twitter , saying her family would kill her. When she refused and appealed to Thai immigration officials , she was escorted to a transit hotel.

The PM has also faced further opposition to her deal from former Brexit secretary Dominic Raab, who used an article in the Sunday Telegraph to urge MPs to vote down Mrs May's "bad" deal and send a message to Brussels that the United Kingdom "will not be bullied".

'If MPs who represent seats that voted 70% to leave say "sorry guys, we're still going to have freedom of movement", they will turn against the political mainstream'. Senior ministers had been urging May to get help from Corbyn if Parliament kills her deal, according to people familiar with the matter.

The simplest outcome to plot comes if Government wins the vote on the Withdrawal Agreement. "Instead of embarking on another fruitless effort of renegotiation, it is time to hand this crucial decision back to the people".

Although the British Prime Minister had postponed the vote which had originally been set for December in order to get enough lawmakers from her own party or others to back the deal she has made with Brussels, she is still reportedly expected to lose the vote.

Hinting the March 29 Article 50 deadline could be extended, Hunt said: "If this deal is rejected, ultimately what we may end up with is not a different type of Brexit but Brexit paralysis".

The Secretary of State said it was "right" for the Government to make preparations for a no-deal Brexit, comparing it to wearing a seatbelt when driving a fast auto.

She told BBC News NI: "I have been clear that I believe no deal is bad for the United Kingdom, it's bad for the whole United Kingdom because it does put in jeopardy some of those constitutional arrangements". I think that what we are seeing is the house asserting itself in the face of its concerns about no deal. But many also dislike May's agreement, which has displeased both sides of Britain's Brexit divide.
