Jayme Closs had been missing for almost three months when she approached a stranger in a small Wisconsin town and pleaded for help.

Jayme Closs, 13, had been missing for almost three months when she approached a stranger near the small Wisconsin town of Gordon on Thursday and pleaded for help.

News that Jayme had been found alive ended an all-out search that gripped the country. Authorities are trying to track down their movements over the past three months to see what they can learn.

"These funds are going to go towards the journey with the family as they help Jayme through whatever it may be...driving to take care of her, taking her to the clinic, medical costs or anything", said De Andriano. "So, we're looking for receipts, where the suspect may have been over the last 88 days".

"I went to her and she just sort of grabbed onto me and she told me who she was".

Jayme told one of the neighbors in Gordon who took her in that she had walked away from a cabin where she had been held. But the sheriff said it did not appear Patterson interacted with the couple.

Officials say Closs is doing well after having been missing from the Barron area since October 15.

Ownership of that rural cabin was transferred to a credit union by Patterson's father shortly after Jayme was kidnapped.

As an adult she realized they didn't mean any harm, she said. The FBI offered a cash reward for information on her whereabouts, and authorities urged hunters in the area to be on the lookout for clues.

The houses and cabins are very spread out in the area that is about 10 minutes from downtown Gordon.

"We have recovered a gun consistent with what was used at the scene of the initial homicide", said the sheriff.

Jake Thomas Patterson, of Gordon, Wisconsin, was arrested Thursday on homicide and kidnapping charges.

"I know all of you are searching for the answer why any of this happened", Fitzgerald said.

There is no evidence in the early stages of the investigation that links Patterson to the parents or to Jayme, Fitzgerald said.

"Probably one of the more hard issues is going to be finding that new sense of normalcy in her life", said Smart, a 31-year-old mother of three. As an example, Fitzgerald said Patterson shaved his head to avoid leaving any hair as evidence during the assault. "[Jayme] don't know him from Adam".

Nutter took Jayme to the closest house, the home of Kristin and Peter Kasinkas, and they called 911.

Jake Thomas Patterson, 21, who allegedly killed two people and held their daughter captive for three months. Jayme, officials said, had escaped from a home while Patterson was out.
